Predicted PBKS playing XI vs SRH: No Shashank Singh as Shreyas Iyer & co eye ending 2-match losing streak

by · Inside Sport India

PBKS are expected to stick with an unchanged playing XI as Shashank Singh is all but certain to miss the contest against SRH on Wednesday

Punjab Kings are most likely to stick with the same playing XI used in the previous game for their all-important match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. Shreyas Iyer and co. are on top of the IPL 2026 points table but are on a two-match losing streak, having lost against RR and GT in their last two games. A win against SRH will help PBKS solidify their position at the top of the standings, and take them one step closer to the IPL 2026 playoffs. Barring Shashank Singh, who missed the previous game as well due to an injuy, all other members of the squad are available for selection.

Predicted PBKS playing XI vs SRH

Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly✈️, Shreyas Iyer (C), Marcus Stoinis✈️, Suryansh Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marco Jansen✈️, Xavier Bartlett✈️, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
Impact player: Vijaykumar Vyshak

PBKS coach Brad Haddin informed reporters on the eve of the SRH vs PBKS match that Shashank was the only concern for the team from a fitness point of view, dropping a subtle hint that he is all but certain to warm the bench once again.

It looks like Shashank will run around and do everything today. That’s our only concern from a fitness point of view, [otherwise] we’ve got all our squad available now. And Shashank will have his last hit out today and hopefully that goes exactly how we think it will go,” Haddin had said.

The 34-year-old have a forgetabble last outing due to the blunders he committed on the field by dropping crucial catches. Besides, he hasn’t been good with the bat either, managing to score just 70 runs from 7 matches with a highest score of just 19 runs in IPL 2026. Therefore, Shedge is expected to retain his place in the playing XI in place of Shashank.

Meanwhile, PBKS will rely heavily on their top-fourr batters in the game against SRH, given that the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has been a batter’s paradise in IPL 2026. All eyes will be on the opener duo of Prabhsimran and Arya to give them the fiery start that is needed while Connolly and Iyer will have to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring that they add to the firepower in the middle-order.

Pace will be the preferred attack in Hyderabad on Wednesday as the surface has hardly helped spinners. Therefore, the PBKS pace department will be spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh – who has had a lean run in IPL 2026 – and will comprise of Xavier Bartlett and Marco Jansen. The team could bring in Vikaykumar Vyshak as an impact player to add more firepower to their bowling line-up and he could replace Shedge once the team has finished batting or vice versa.
