IND vs SA, ICC Women’s World Cup Final Pitch Report: DY Patil Stadium to offer batting paradise?

Catch the pitch report information of DY Patil Stadium for the India vs South Africa ICC Women's ODI World Cup Final game.

The Women in Blue will be gearing up to write perhaps the biggest chapter in cricket when they take on South Africa in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final. Harmanpreet Kaur’s India outmuscled Australia, the heavy favourites, in the semi-final clash to book their spot in the summit clash at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The 43,000-seater stadium is already sold out, although not without some chaos for ticketing sales. However, the support for Team India would be so much that you would want to witness the live action from the stadium. Just like it was in the semi-final, the crowd will turn blue to see the women’s script history and lift their much-awaited maiden ICC World Cup. The same, however, could be said about South Africa, who beat England to march towards their elusive silverware in the format.

DY Patil Stadium Pitch Report for IND vs SA Final

The DY Patil Stadium replaced the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium after all the ‘stampede episode’ that broke out in Bengaluru after the IPL 2025 final. Fantastically, the stadium in Navi Mumbai will be remembered for ages if the hosts win the clash. Just like the Chinnaswamy ground, this DY Patil Stadium is also known for aiding the batters.

In fact, in the entire ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the batting run rate here (5.72) is the best among all five grounds. Moreover, a wicket falls here only after 34.50 runs, which is also the closest best after Vizag’s tally of 34.86. Although teams would benefit by chasing here, teams batting first have won two as compared to only one chase win here in the tournament.

However, that win in a runchase was historic. Well, it was almost a one-woman show as Jemimah Rodrigues guided India to the highest-ever chase in women’s ODI history. In terms of bowling, spinners have taken 29 wickets here at an average of 36.10 as compared to 16 wickets by pacers at 49.18. Hence, teams can go with just two pace-bowling options, allowing them to stranglehold the opposition with spin. Having said that, don’t expect a turning track in Navi Mumbai due to the rain concerns.
