IND vs PAK sequel in Asia Cup 2025 after Pakistan qualify for Super 4

Pakistan needed to win against UAE to qualify for the Super 4. The match wasn’t without drama with delayed start due to PCB’s impasse on their complaint over match referee Andy Pycroft. The Zimbabwean issued apologies for the match to go ahead which started more than an hour after scheduled time. Pakistan struggled with the bat and needed a late Shaheen Afridi cameo to get them to a comfortable total.

In response, UAE put up a fight but couldn’t make it count when it mattered the most. They were eventually bowled out for 105, losing their last 7 wickets for 20 runs. Pakistan are now guaranteed to finish second, while India are likely to finish first in Group A. They will face off on Sunday, September 21 in Dubai.

What has happened in the last IND vs PAK game?

India sealed a thumping victory on Sunday in their first encounter of Asia Cup 2025. Kuldeep Yadav was the star once again as Pakistan managed a lowly 127. India chased it down with ease, with Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma all making valuable contributions.

More than the cricket, politics and controversies dominated the proceedings before and after the game. Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha did not shake hands at the toss at the discretion of match referee Andy Pycroft. Later, the Indian team did not engage in pleasantries after the game, reportedly shutting their dressing room door. Surya dedicated the win to Pahalgam victims.

PCB officially asked for Pycroft’s removal and threatened to pull out of the Asia Cup altogether. Pakistan did not turn up until the match referee apologised to coach Mike Hesson, captain Salman Agha in the presence of ICC GM Wasim Khan.
