by · Inside Sport India

The India Under-19 side has been unbeaten in the entire Asia Cup; meanwhile, Pakistan's only loss came against the Men in Blue only in the group stage.

Organisers, broadcasters, fans and players couldn’t have asked for a better fixture. An India vs Pakistan clash will headline the title match of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup Final after both teams cruised to emphatic eight-wicket wins in their respective semi-finals in Dubai on Friday. The summit clash will be played on Sunday, and the two countries will be buzzing.

India have been unbeaten throughout the competition, while Pakistan’s only defeat came against the Men in Blue during the group stage. This will also be the first time in 11 years that India and Pakistan meet in a U19 Asia Cup final. The last such meeting came in 2014, when India lifted the trophy with a squad that included future internationals like Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav.

How India and Pakistan booked their final spots

India secured their place in the final with a composed win over Sri Lanka in a rain-shortened semi-final at the ICC Academy. With the match reduced to 20 overs per side, Sri Lanka were held to 138 for 8, as India’s bowlers continued their strong run. Kanishk Chauhan and Henil Patel picked up two wickets each, while Sri Lanka’s batters struggled to build momentum.

India’s chase began on a shaky note, but vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra took charge with an unbeaten 61 off 45 balls. He found solid support from Aaron George, who made 58 not out, as the pair added an unbroken 114-run stand to take India home comfortably in 18 overs.

Pakistan, meanwhile, dominated Bangladesh in the second semi-final at The Sevens Stadium. After rain reduced the game to 27 overs per side, Pakistan’s bowlers dismissed Bangladesh for 121, led by Abdul Subhan’s impressive 4 for 20. The chase was wrapped up swiftly, with Sameer Minhas scoring an unbeaten 69 as Pakistan reached the target with plenty to spare.

India hold incredible dominance in the competition, having won it 8 times out of the total 12 editions. Now, they can make 9 out of 13. This year’s edition also works as a great rehearsal for the mega event that is the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026. The ICC recently announced the schedule of the tournament as well.
