BPL under match-fixing scanner, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team could suffer

The BPL is under the scanner after reports of match-fixing in the tournament. As per Cricbuzz, there are eight matches that are under scrutiny by the BCB, over the allegations of spot-fixing and match-fixing too. Not just that, the report suggests that 10 players are under suspicion, while the anti-corruption is monitoring the activities of four franchises.

What makes the entire development even more shocking is, six players under the scanner, have represented Bangladesh National team, while two are uncapped, and the other two are foreign players. Furthermore, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team Fortune Barishal is under the scanner.
The eight suspect matches are — Fortune Barishal vs Rajshahi (January 6), Rangpur Riders vs Dhaka (January 7), Dhaka vs Sylhet (January 10), Rajshahi vs Dhaka (January 12), Chittagong vs Sylhet (January 13), Barishal vs Khulna Tigers (January 22), and Chittagong vs Sylhet.
BCB President Assures Strict Punishment
Apart from that, BCB president Faruque Ahmed has made it clear, that strict action would be taken against the culprits. “Look, I cannot make any official comment in this regard until the investigation is completed because there is a protocol that we need to follow,” Faruque told Cricbuzz on Friday.
“The whole list and the events that happen during the tournament are noted and the investigation is done later. If during the investigation something comes up, then you know the punishment is quite harsh, and if I find out something, their life will be quite different because I won’t spare anyone guilty. The decision will be taken once and for all, and it will be exemplary.”
