Bumrah was the most overworked Indian bowler in the previous calendar year. In Australia alone, he bowled 151.2 overs after taking part in all five Tests, leading to his injury. While scans had revealed that he did not suffer any stress fracture to his back, he did develop a swelling on his back. Following this, he was rested from IND vs ENG T20Is and is unlikely to be a part of the ODI series either. While reports had claimed that he was advised bed rest and was not going to be rushed back, the pacer laughed off such speculations and dubbed it as fake news.
All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar when they make the squad announcement on Saturday at 12.30 PM. Bumrah’s name is most likely to be added along with an asterisk that states subject to fitness. Meanwhile, India’s pace attack is expected to comprise of Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami.
