India captain Suryakumar Yadav said that the team had distanced themselves from the trolling on social media over IND vs PAK tie

India cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the team attempted to pay least attention to the clamour on social media over the IND vs PAK tie at Asia Cup. There were widespread calls to boycott the contest against the arch-rivals in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Even the Indian players weren’t spared by a section of fans on social media who opined that India should pull out from the contest.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Surya revealed that the team had decided on Day 1 of their arrival in Dubai that they would cut down usage of social media. The Indian captain stated that all members of the team, including support staff, kept him away from the clamour and trolling on social media. SKY said that by doing so, the team was able to head into the IND vs PAK tie with a clear mind and execute their plans to perfection.

All the players and the support staff decided on the day we arrived that to try and cut out the outside noise by 75-80%. We thought it would be better for us and we could then easily execute our plans. I don’t know what is happening outside because my team keeps me far away from it. Others players and the support staff also try to distance themselves from it. That is when you can go the field with a clear mind, execute plans and give your 100%,” Suryakumar Yadav said.

India cricket team clinched a convincing 7-wicket win against Pakistan. Following the game, captain SKY dedicated the win to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

“Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the victims of the families of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to put a smile on their face,” Suryakumar said in the post-match interview.
