All may not be well between Hardik Pandya and the Mumbai Indians (MI) as the MI captain is training alone. He has been sidelined for two matches and hasn’t travelled to Dharamsala for tonight’s PBKS vs MI encounter. Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed an exciting all-rounder to replace Ramakrishna Ghosh at IPL 2026.
Can Shami make a comeback?
The BCCI and selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, will meet this weekend or next week to plan India’s Test roadmap, including the one-off Test against Afghanistan starting June 6, just after IPL 2026. India want a full-strength batting lineup but are undecided on pacers. With MI out, Bumrah is available, though workload is a concern after playing all MI games and the T20 World Cup 2026. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are still in IPL playoff contention. Akash Deep and Harshit Rana are injured. Selectors have reportedly moved on from Mohammed Shami despite strong domestic performances since his 2023 return. Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, and wild card Auqib Nabi have been asked to increase IPL workload ahead of possible selection. Read more here.
Hardik Pandya-Mumbai Indians
Hardik Pandya will likely miss Mumbai Indians’ match against PBKS in Dharamshala after also sitting out the last two IPL 2026 games with a back spasm. Despite training for over three hours and batting and bowling in Mumbai nets on Tuesday, he did not travel with the squad. Reports suggest he’s being assessed by team management, though some speculate he’s being deliberately sidelined amid MI’s poor season. MI are out of playoff contention, losing seven of nine games under Pandya’s captaincy. They sit ninth with six points from 11 matches. Hardik has scored 146 runs and taken four wickets in eight games. Read more here.
CSK sign Ghosh’s replacement
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed 24-year-old Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh for the rest of IPL 2026. Ghosh fractured his right foot on debut against Mumbai Indians and has been ruled out. Noronha debuted for Karnataka in 2024 and last played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in December 2025. He has 58 runs and one wicket in three T20s. He impressed in the 2025 Maharaja Trophy, scoring 253 runs at a 148.82 strike rate with 19 sixes for Mangaluru Dragons, plus 10 wickets. CSK, fifth with six wins from 11 games, are battling injuries to Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed. Read more here.

Pat Cummins gets fined
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has been fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over rate during SRH’s heavy loss to Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. Chasing 169 at Narendra Modi Stadium, SRH were bowled out for 86, missing a chance to top the IPL 2026 table. This was SRH’s first over-rate offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Cummins now joins other captains penalised this year for the same issue. He returned to IPL on April 25 after Cricket Australia clearance. Stand-in skipper Ishan Kishan avoided any fines during Cummins’ absence. The penalty was confirmed in an official IPL release. BCCI to discpline players
The BCCI has issued strict guidelines to IPL teams and players after multiple incidents during IPL 2026 made the board uncomfortable. The advisory warns of honey-trapping and targeted compromise, bans vaping, and cracks down on owners and PMOA breaches. Controversies included Riyan Parag and Yuzvendra Chahal vaping on camera and an RR manager using a phone in the dugout. The Anti-Corruption and Security Unit flagged unauthorised people in hotels, dugouts, and restricted zones. A BCCI source told ANI there’s been “lots of indiscipline” this season. Read more here.
