The first round matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 are underway, with several India cricket team stars taking part in the domestic 50-over tournament. Following the directive of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), most of the Team India regulars have made themselves available for VHT, with majority of them set to play at least a couple of games. The tourney will serve as a preparation stage for the IND vs NZ series which commences from January 11 onwards.

While majority of the India cricket team regulars are taking part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah has been granted an exemption. On Tuesday, Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed that the pacer won’t be a part of the tournament as he is taking rest before the IND vs NZ series and the T20 World Cup 2026.
Meanwhile, the duo of Virat and Rohit have made their return to the domestic 50-over tournament after over a decade as they aim to stay in shape and get some game time during the international break.
