by · Inside Sport India

Sooryavanshi will once again look to continue his dominant run when RR takes on GT in IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 on May 29 in Mullanpur.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 reaches its penultimate match, in the Qualifier 2, the inaugural title winners, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on May 29. For RR, a lot would depend on how teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bats, and will be the most critical factor for them.

He has already smashed a few records in the season; has the most sixes in the season (65), surpassing Chris Gayle’s tally of 60, and has the most runs in powerplay (490), in a year. So, it would be interesting to see how he turns up against GT. But for that, it is imperative to see, how he has fared against GT in the tournament.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s record vs GT in IPL

Speaking of his performance against GT, it is to be noted that Sooryavanshi’s maiden IPL ton came against this very opposition in 2025. He hit a 35-ball 100, aged 14 years back then and became the youngest to score an IPL century. The Bihar-born comes in the Qualifier 2 after already scoring 168 runs against GT in three outings at an average of 56 and a strike rate of 233.3.
