IND vs PAK win dedicated to Pahalgam victim & armed forces
The Indian government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had received massive pushback for allowing Team India to play against Pakistan. However, the match proceeded as planned at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium despite calls for boycotting the match.
After the match, Suryakumar addressed the situation. He stated that the entire Indian team stands with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The 360-degree batter gave a shout-out to the armed forces and dedicated the emphatic victory to them.
“Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the victims of the families of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to put a smile on their face,” Suryakumar said in the post-match interview.
India’s reply to Pakistan
Suryakumar was also asked but refused to shake hands with the Pakistan team before and after the match. He replied that the BCCI and the Indian government had taken the call on whether they would play or not. For the Indian team, it was just another game. And according to him, the victory over Pakistan was the perfect reply from them to the atrocities that they had committed.
“Our government and BCCI were aligned. When we came here, we took a call. We came here just to play the game. We gave them a proper reply,” the Indian captain said in the press conference.
