While the other batters walked in and out, Abhishek Sharma held his fort with a 68-run knock off 37 deliveries in IND vs AUS 2nd T20I

India cricket team opener Abhishek Sharma waged smart lone-warrior battle in the IND vs AUS 2nd T20I to help the side to get to a face-saving total. Out of the 19 overs that he spent out in the middle, the Punjab batter played just 37 deliveries while he emerged as the highest run-getter in the game for the visitors. After losing the toss, India were put in to bat first and suffered a horrific collapse while Sharma watched on from the other end while batters walked in and out.

Abhishek managed to survive till 18.3 over, finishing with 68 runs to his name off 37 deliveries, maintaining a strike rate of 183.78. The opener was the only Indian batter, apart from Harshit Rana, to taste success in what was a horrendous outing for the visitors in the IND vs AUS 2nd T20I in Melbourne. At the end of 11 overs, Sharma had only faced 19 deliveries, and he only faced 18 more before he was dismissed in the 19th over.

While Sharma went on the charge early in the innings, he managed to score his first boundary in the 17.2 over after having last struck one in the 9.6th over. While he did bring up his 6th T20I fifty in the 13th over, Abhishek was eventually dismissed in the third delivery of the 19th over as he was trapped for an LBW off Nathan Ellis’ delivery.

India lost the toss and were put in to bat first in the contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The visitors were reduced to 32/4 before the end of the powerplay, with Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma all dismissed for single digit scores. Eventually, thanks to a 56-run partnership between Rana and Abhishek, India were able to reach a face-saving total of 125 runs.
