India’s Asia Cup squad announcement: Date, Time, Venue, Live Streaming & All You Need To Know
by Naman Jain · Inside Sport IndiaCatch all the details you need to know regarding India's squad announcement for the Men's Asia Cup T20 2025.
Putting aside all reports, discussions, and assumptions, the chairman of selectors for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the Indian team squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. After all the back-and-forth on the tournament between countries, the Asia Cup 2025 is set to take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
While Pakistan dropped a bombshell when they excluded both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from their squad, all eyes will be on Team India today. With the kind of talent that India has, especially in the T20 format, selectors can happily make three different teams — all of which can beat any team in any given day. That is the talent India possesses, and thus some huge names are likely to miss out from India’s Asia Cup T20 2025 squad.

Big Selection headaches for BCCI
The Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee is gearing up to announce India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025, but balancing workloads ahead of a busy calendar is proving tricky. The Asia Cup runs till September 28 in Dubai, while the home Test series against the West Indies begins just three days later on October 2.
That overlap puts multi-format players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in a tight spot. Gill, who is also leading North Zone in the Duleep Trophy and captains India in Tests, may be rested from the Asia Cup despite his IPL 2025 success. Also, with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma being designated openers, there’s no need for Gill. Jaiswal faces a similar clash, but he is ahead in the pecking order, as he was also part of the T20 World Cup 2024 team. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer’s strong IPL season makes him a frontrunner for a T20I recall.
For spinners, Washington Sundar looks a more likely pick alongside Kuldeep Yadav for the Asia Cup, with UAE conditions suiting his style. Among pacers, Siraj is certain for the Test series but may skip the Asia Cup, while Bumrah could feature in both formats. Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma are certainties under skipper Suryakumar Yadav.
India’s Asia Cup squad announcement live streaming details
Earlier, there were reports that the Indian management isn’t looking to host a press conference and instead will announce the team via press release. However, a late change of heart meant delight for Indian fans. Now, there is a scheduled press conference for the Asia Cup squad announcement, with both Suryakumar Yadav and Ajit Agarkar attending.
In fact, there’s a double delight for fans as it will be followed by the announcement of the Indian women’s team as well for the upcoming ICC Women’s ODI World Cup (in India and Sri Lanka). The women’s side’s announcement will be at 3:30 pm IST on same location.
