India U19 vs England U19 Youth Test: All eyes will be on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the red-ball series begins after 50-over rubber.

Fresh off a pulsating ODI series win, India’s U19 team now shifts its focus to the red-ball leg of the England tour. The two-match Youth Test series begins on Saturday, July 12, at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham. The visitors, led by Ayush Mhatre, will be keen to do well in the longer format after clinching the five-match Youth one-days eries 3-2.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in spotlight…again

The spotlight will once again be on 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who stole headlines with a blistering 143 off 78 balls during the ODI leg. He ended the series as the top-scorer with 355 runs, a strike rate north of 170, and 29 sixes, which was more than any other batter in the series.

But this won’t be new territory for the Rajasthan Royals starlet, who already holds the record for India’s fastest Youth Test century, a 58-ball ton against Australia last year. As for Ayush Mhatre, he failed in the 50-over series but will be gunning to do well in the longer format. Meanwhile, for England, Thomas Rew will be the most exciting prospect. He even played against India A just before the senior men’s India vs England Test series, which is also currently ongoing.
