Prasidh Krishna riles up Joe Root, Rahul after sledging duel
Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root went at each other in yet another sledging contest in the IND vs ENG 5th Test. With India trailing in the contest, the bowlers used all their tricks in London on Friday. Krishna bowled a jaffa to Root and later chirped at the England superstar. The next ball Root cut him for a boundary, while chatting animatedly in the middle of the pitch.
The 34-year-old is well known for his cool demeanor and it was rare for him to be pumped and talking. Eventually, umpires Ahsan Raza and Kumar Dharmasena had to step in to de-escalate the situation. That did not sit well with KL Rahul, who argued with Dharmasena.
The Indian opener quipped: “What, do you want us to be quiet? What do you want us to do? Just bat and ball and go home?”
Dharmasena stood firm and advised caution: “We’ll discuss that at the end of the match. You can’t talk like that.”
The plan to rile Root up worked as Mohammed Siraj worked his magic soon after. The England legend was sent packing with a sharp nip backer in the second session to help India wrestle back control.
