Why did West Ham sell Mohammed Kudus?
According to the West Ham deputy chair, as reported by TalkSPORT, it was difficult for the team to lose a player they wanted to keep but financial restraints, Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and regulations meant that transfer deals had become a crucial factor.
Brady stated this was the reality for West Ham, with clubs restricted on what they could buy because they have to be careful of breaching Football Association rules.
As such, she confirmed the decision to sell Kudus was based on financial factors, although she admitted that, by his own standards, he did not have a particularly good season for West Ham last year.
The Hammers then decided to part ways with the Ghanaian, who has since been hailed by Richarlison, his new teammate.
Fan reactions to Mohammed Kudus' Tottenham debut
Meanwhile, Spurs fans have praised Kudus following his Premier League masterclass debut for his new team, with some of the comments reproduced below.
“Kudus made it look so easy out there—two assists in one game, both absolutely perfect. Richarlison’s goals? Pure class, and it all started with Kudus!”
“He’s like the Brazilian we never knew we needed! Those passes to Richarlison were flawless. This duo is going to tear up the Premier League!”
“Can we talk about how effortlessly Kudus set up those goals? His vision and precision are on another level. Richarlison’s brace was brilliant, but it all came from Kudus' magic!”
According to Transfermarkt, Kudus has made 237 domestic appearances and scored 67 goals and providing 30 assists.
He burst onto the scene with FC Nordsjaelland, before his major moves to Ajax, West Ham, and eventually Tottenham.
Spurs see a long-term superstar
Tottenham moved quickly because they see Kudus as more than just a creative midfielder, they believe he can be an attacking leader in the new project under Thomas Frank.
Club staff were impressed by his work ethic during pre-signing medicals and believe he has the mentality to develop into a Premier League star over the next five years.
Early signs suggest they may be right, with fans already talking about him as the heartbeat of their new-look attack. Many insiders also feel his versatility across the frontline gives Spurs a tactical edge they’ve been missing.
If he maintains this form, he could soon become one of the most important players in English football.
Savinho to join Kudus, Richarlison at Tottenham
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Tottenham are reportedly planning to sign Manchester City winger Savinho as Thomas Frank eyes a fierce attacking front line to set his team on a path to trophies.
Despite the major outlay on former West Ham star Mohammed Kudus, Spurs are still active in the transfer market. The club is keen to add more scoring options for their 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
