Manchester City’s title hopes suffered a setback on Wednesday night, March 4, 2026, after Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a surprising 2-2 draw at home by relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, City were pegged back by a determined Forest side, with Elliot Anderson’s strike in the 76th minute securing a valuable point for Vitor Pereira’s team.

Man City fans criticise Matheus Nunes

City fans were particularly unimpressed with Matheus Nunes’ display against Forest, as the Portuguese midfielder once again struggled while playing at right-back.

One supporter wrote:

“Can't win the league with Matheus Nunes playing RB, a very useless player.”

Another added:

“Matheus Nunes has to find a new club, and that’s non-negotiable. What a fraud.”

A third fan said:

“I don't think I will ever EVER understand the hype around Matheus Nunes. He's genuinely one of the worst players I've ever seen ‘play’ football.”

Another commented:

“Matheus Nunes is playing so bad today.”

One fan concluded:

“Matheus Nunes has had a TERRIBLE game so far. I hope he doesn't go back to default settings.”

Nunes struggled at both ends of the pitch against Forest, with none of his eight crosses finding a teammate.

He also lost six of his 12 duels and committed a foul during the match.

The Portuguese international has been City’s first-choice right-back this season, recording one goal and six assists in 26 Premier League appearances.

City are expected to search for a new wide defender when the season ends after failing to replace Kyle Walker following his summer move to Burnley.

Seven points behind Arsenal after Wednesday’s results, Guardiola’s side will next travel to face Newcastle United in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.

Supercomputer predicts Premier League title winner

Data analysts have also weighed in on the unfolding drama.

According to projections from Opta’s supercomputer, Arsenal are overwhelming favourites to lift the trophy this season.

The model gives the Gunners a 92.84% chance of finishing first, while City’s probability has dropped to just 7.16%.

Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been given zero probability of claiming the EPL trophy.

Semenyo on the verge of another landmark

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo is closing in on another major milestone in football.

The Black Stars forward needs just five more goals to reach 20 in a single Premier League season for the first time in his career.
