2025 would hold greater significance as they are now officially the inaugural winners of the revamped tournament.

Four years earlier, the Blues beat rivals Manchester City, who claimed the title in 2023 with a 4-0 rout of Fluminense.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh has looked at every team that has lifted the Club World Cup since its inception, with data culled from Sports Illustrated:

Chelsea could miss next Club World Cup

Despite basking in the glory of winning the inaugural edition of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea will not automatically feature in the 2029 tournament, as reported by SportBIBLE.

Under the new structure, UEFA receives 12 of the 32 slots, with four of those going to Champions League winners during the qualifying cycle, and eight are awarded based on domestic rankings.

Here’s the catch for Chelsea: winning the CWC does not guarantee a spot in the next edition. PSG, despite losing the final, have already secured their place for 2029 by virtue of winning the UCL title.

Chelsea, meanwhile, sit 14th in UEFA’s coefficient rankings, two places outside the qualification threshold for the revised Club World Cup.

Unless they climb the rankings or win Europe’s premier club competition in the coming years, there could be a twist for the champions.

PSG dressing room problems after CWC final defeat

PSG are dealing with internal issues after their heavy defeat to Chelsea.

Some senior players are unhappy with the coach’s team choices, especially leaving out Bradley Barcola, who had impressed in previous games. Others left the stadium looking upset, skipping their usual post-match routines and media interviews.

There is also frustration about their lack of defensive organisation, with some blaming the coaching staff for not preparing well against Chelsea’s counter-attacks.

Captain Marquinhos urged the team to stick together and focus on Ligue 1, warning that more division could hurt their title hopes.

Fans are worried these problems might affect upcoming Champions League qualifiers. Many believe the club should sign a new central defender and midfielder to strengthen the squad before next season kicks off.

Heated PSG clash after CWC final loss

In an earlier report, YEN.com.gh highlighted a tense post-match incident involving PSG boss Luis Enrique, who appeared to strike Chelsea forward Joao Pedro during a heated altercation.

Footage captured the moment the player hit the ground after the apparent clash, sparking immediate backlash, with the unsavoury episode somewhat marring Chelsea’s Club World Cup victory.
