After tapping Chinese celebrity Rosy Zhao to launch its official e-commerce store on Tmall, Alo continues to lean into star power and has named Chinese actor, singer and racer Wang Yibo its latest global brand ambassador.
“From the stage to the racetrack and rock climbing, Wang Yibo has consistently expressed his passions through action. With endurance and disciplined dedication, he continues to refine his skills through training, experimentation and constant adjustments,” Alo said in a statement. “It’s Wang’s attentiveness to the body and mind, whether in movement or stillness, that naturally aligns with Alo’s philosophy of wellness.”

For Wang, attentive recovery and relishing simple moments in life are just as important as staying focused and active. “I look forward to exploring more balanced ways of approaching life with the brand,” Wang said.

To reinforce the idea of making space for recovery and reset — and extending Alo’s athleisure proposition beyond the gym — Wang is seen stretching it out in an off-duty look for the local campaign. Key pieces include the brand’s Alpha Shell jacket, Co-op pants and the Voyage Duffle, a luxury handbag that made its market debut last year.
According to Alo, Wang will participate in the wellness company’s local brand initiatives and events, working with Alo to broaden the local market’s understanding of an active lifestyle to encompass both movement and recovery.
Last month the brand took an online-first approach by launching exclusively on Tmall, the Alibaba-owned e-commerce platform. According to the e-commerce giant, the store launch enables Alo to access Tmall’s more than 62 million 88VIP customers, Alibaba’s high-spending customer cohort.
The brand’s Tmall launch follows the opening of Alo’s events-booking platform on WeChat Mini Program and the naming of a new brand ambassador, Chinese K-pop star Ningning, or Ning Yizhuo, of the girl group Aespa.
Offline, Alo is in cautious expansion mode. According to Xiaohongshu, China‘s popular social commerce platform, later this month the brand will unveil shopping mall hoardings in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Hong Kong.
