Germany news: President Steinmeier in UK for royal visit

The German president is visiting London amid increasing security ties between the UK and Germany. Meanwhile, the Left Party has paved the way for a fraught pension bill to overcome an inner-CDU rebellion. DW has more.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is in the UK for a 3-day state visit.

He was received by King Charles and met Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He will speak in the UK Parliament on Thursday.

Steinmeier is the first German president to get a state visit in the UK in 27 years.
