Iran: Explosion hits Bandar Abbas Port — reports
· DWThe reported blast comes amid heightened US-Iran tensions.
An explosion occurred on Saturday at a building in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, Iranian media reported, without giving a cause for the blast.
Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted the crisis management director for Hormozgan province, Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, as saying the explosion's cause was under investigation.
"Those injured in the incident are being transferred to the hospital by emergency responders," he added, without reporting any fatalities.
The blast came at a sensitive moment in relations between Washington and Tehran, after the US sent an aircraft carrier group into the area.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump again issued threats against Iran, calling on Tehran to come to an agreement on its nuclear program.
This is a developing story.
