Sir Alex Ferguson 'AXED' by Man Utd as Sir Jim Ratcliffe drops bombshell in brutal face to face meeting

Sir Alex is said to have parted ways with Manchester United

by · Daily Record

Manchester United are reported to have sensationally SACKED Sir Alex Ferguson from his ambassadorial contract.

Sir Alex is viewed as the single most influential figure in United's history and one of the greatest managers of all-time, leading them to nine league titles in his 26 years as manager. He retired in 2013 and has served as their Global Ambassador for most of the last decade.

But The Athletic now report that as part of a shakeup by new part-owners INEOS, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has decided to part ways. It's claimed he was told that in a face-to-face meeting and that it's a cost-cutting measure that will save the club an annual seven-figure fee. It's further claimed that the meeting was amicable with no issues between Ferguson and Ratcliffe. It comes despite the new part-owner putting on record his respect for the legendary manager who he said was the 'first person he met' when he was considering the takeover.

Ratcliffe said back in February: “He was the first person I met when I went up there which I think was the second week of January and I had a meeting from 9am to 10am at his house and I left at 1pm. He never stopped. He’s got a lot of experience, a lot of stories to tell and a lot of thoughts about the club.

“I don’t think he has been encouraged to get involved but he is still very thoughtful about the club and he has an immense amount of experience. He really understands the values and traditions of the club and what it’s all about. He’s still fiercely competitive, Alex Ferguson.”
