Cheryl was spotted attending the funeral of her ex-partner Liam Payne, who is being laid to rest in Wolverhampton today, more than a month after his tragic passing in Argentina.

The One Direction star's loved ones have gathered to mourn the 31-year-old, who fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16, with three individuals since being charged in connection with his death.

Liam, who rose to fame as a teenager on The X Factor, suffered fatal injuries, and an investigation into his death is ongoing. Cheryl has vowed to ensure their seven year old son Bear learns about his late father's life and career as he grows older.

Liam was a devoted dad to Bear, whom he and Cheryl welcomed in 2017. The Girls Aloud star has paid tribute to the father of her child, admitting she is experiencing an "indescribably painful time".

A source told New Idea Magazine: "Her family's rallying around her so she can be strong for Bear. Bear's a mini-Liam - Cheryl's going to make sure he knows everything about his dad as he gets older."

Despite their split in 2018 after two years together, Liam and Cheryl remained friends, with the Strip That Down singer frequently praising his ex as "the world's best mum" in interviews. Liam often expressed his joy about being a father and the privacy he maintained around their son for safety reasons, reports the Mirror.

Recalling his early experiences of parenthood at just 23, he said: "I put my time in with my son and I also like to speak to people who are new dads also because you don't know what's coming and it's different."

He continued: "And, you know, to be honest with you, it ruined a relationship for me at that point but for all the right reasons, and it's like you think kids are a blank page [when] they're born. When Bear was first born I was so excited for him to be born, but I thought, what if I don't love him enough? It was such a worry for me."

On The Impaulsive podcast, Liam explained that although his son lived with Cheryl, he remained an involved parent despite his career commitments. At the time he passed away, he had been in a two-year relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy.
