Session One - 12.45pm
William O’Connor vs Danny Noppert
O’Connor dispatched Richard Veenstra in convincing style to book a tussle against Rob Cross and he launched a terrific comeback to stun the fourth-seeded Londoner, winning six of the last seven legs and sealing his progress with a magnificent 151 finish. Ex-Lakeside champion Noppert was hammered at the Worlds by eventual quarter-finalist Ryan Joyce and lost last week to Price, but he won the 2022 UK Open and remains a permanent fixture in the Top 16 of the PDC rankings. Noppert punished a profligate display from 2023 World Champion Michael Smith to prevail and book this tie pinning seven of his 11 attempts at double to cap off a clinical display.
Damon Heta vs Gerwyn Price
The Aussie, seeded eight, missed out on the Premier League selections despite smashing a nine-darter at the World Championships at Ally Pally in his loss to Luke Woodhouse. Heta booked his place in the second round with a 3-1 victory over Ross Smith, punishing 17 missed darts at double from the former European Champion to enjoy a winning start to 2025. The Iceman has started the year with plenty of promise having made the semi-finals of the Worlds and the World Series in Holland, as well as the Final in Bahrain. Price kicked off MK proceedings with a 127 checkout on the bull and that set the tone for a dominant display which saw the Welshman relinquish just one leg on his way to victory over Florian Hempel.
Stephen Bunting vs Peter Wright
Bunting has started the season in flying form and just failed to go back-to-back in the World Series when losing the Final in Den Bosch to Cross. He overturned a two-set deficit to edge out William Borland on a dramatic opening night one. Snakebite is out of the Premier League and concentrating efforts on ranking titles this year. He made the quarters at Ally Pally and is threatening a return to top form. Wright won through a compelling five-set clash against Kevin Doets in one of Thursday’s stand-out matches, averaging 101.28 to open his title tilt.
Luke Humphries vs Josh Rock
Humphries is aiming to get back on track having lost before the Final in each of the two World Series events which have backed up the loss of the World crown. He headlined a star-studded opening night as he kicked off his campaign with a 3-1 success against 2022 Masters champion Joe Cullen.
The World No.1 produced an accomplished display to fend off the former Premier League runner-up, despite squandering three match darts for a straight-sets victory. Rock ran out a 3-1 winner against Jermaine Wattimena, averaging 98 and landing five 180s to triumph in a quickfire clash.
Session Two - 7pm
Jonny Clayton vs Ryan Searle
Clayton produced a breathtaking display to move through to the second round on Friday evening, The Welshman averaged 112.77 to deny German No.1 Martin Schindler in an astonishing contest, landing five 180s and converting 66 per cent of his attempts at double in the process. Searle is a hugely-exciting opponent with his heavy scoring a feature of his smooth play. He defeated 2023 Masters champion Chris Dobey to set up a showdown against Clayton after the Bedlington star missed a dart at tops to force a fifth and decisive set.
Cameron Menzies vs Nathan Aspinall
Menzies landed a stunning 106 average in his straight shoot-out with World Youth Champion Gian van Veen in qualifying having beaten Berry van Peer and Evans to progress. He then took care of sixth seed Dave Chisnall, pinning six of his 12 attempts at doubles to complete a 3-1 victory. Aspinall has fought back from struggles to earn his places back in both the Premier League and World Series and also had a strong run at the Worlds. He won through a high-quality affair against Andrew Gilding, averaging 103 and landing six of his eight attempts at doubles to prevail in a battle of the former UK Open champions.
Luke Littler vs James Wade
The World Champion has failed to make the Final in each of his two World Series appearances since lifting the world crown, but has his eyes on this ranking title. He breezed past Belgium’s Andy Baetens in under 11 minutes of play to make a winning start in Milton Keynes. Wade was dumped out of the Worlds by Jermaine Wattimena, but won through a topsy-turvy five-set battle against World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker in Friday’s curtain-raiser, wrapping up proceedings with a clean sweep in set five.
Michael van Gerwen vs Dimitri Van den Bergh
Van Gerwen was hugely irritated by his performance in defeat to Luke Littler in the Netherlands last weekend and is looking for better, The Dutch ace ran out a 3-1 winner against former World Youth Champion Bradley Brooks in his opener, winning seven out of nine legs to cap off a dominant display. Van den Bergh, the reigning UK Open champion, has shown flashes of his best in recent times and reeled off six consecutive legs to account for two-time World Champion Gary Anderson in Friday’s finale.
