A mother and her two children tragically lost their lives after leaping from Niagara Falls on Monday.

33 year old Chaianti Means, along with her children Roman Rossman, nine, and five-month-old Mecca Means, crossed the safety railing, according to New York State Police.

The trio fell to their deaths, with their bodies yet to be retrieved. The authorities have labelled the fall as "intentional", but also confirmed that "circumstances remain under investigation".

Unmanned aircraft and underwater resources are being utilised by officers as part of their ongoing probe.

It's reported that the mother and her children stepped over the guardrail at Luna Island, a small island nestled between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, forming part of the renowned tourist spot, reports the Mirror.
