Matheus Cunha faced the wrath of Wolves boss Vitor Pereira after Monday night's defeat to Chelsea.

The Brazil forward has been a revelation this season despite the Molineux side being embroiled in a relegation battle - netting 10 goals in the Premier League so far. It was widely reported earlier this month that the former Atletico Madrid man had agreed a bumper new long-term contract with the club. But it emerged on Monday talks have now stalled, with Arsenal said to be in the hunt for the £50million star as they seek attacking reinforcements.

The speculation surrounding Cunha's future appeared to affect the 25-year-old's performance at Stamford Bridge, as he looked out-of-sorts in the 3-1 defeat. And his sluggish display provoked the rage of manager Pereira, who slammed his key man's demeanour.

Pereira fizzed: "I had this conversation in the dressing room. He can be frustrated because he wants to win, but everybody in the team wants to win. I don’t like this body language. I want someone as a captain trying to help the team – running, suffering, fighting together. This is something I can understand. Next time, I will not understand."

Cunha also raised eyebrows by walking straight down the tunnel at full-time as Pereira warned: "This is something that cannot happen again." Pereira acknowledged that Cunha's mind may be distracted by the January interested from elsewhere, adding: "It’s human that the players start to be a little bit… it’s normal in football."
