Hit drama The Vampire Diaries came to an end seven years ago but fans are still captivated by the Mystic Falls crew.

Viewers could hardly contain their excitement when cast members Kat Graham, Candice King and Nina Dobrev reunited at Epic Con in Georgia, earlier this month.

The trio are best known for playing close friends Elena, Bonnie and Caroline on the eight-season series. Based on L.J. Smith's novels of the same name, the teen drama follows 16-year-old Elena as she develops a crush on a new student named Stefan Salvatore.

As the relationship blooms, she learns that her new beau is a vampire and becomes entrenched in the supernatural world of bloodsuckers, werewolves and witches.

Following the reunion, X, formerly Twitter, lit up with fans rejoicing. One user gushed: "Unprecedented wave of nostalgia just hit me, I wasn't expecting to see them together" while another exclaimed: "OMFG HEAR ME SCREAMING. My fav girls reunite."

But what has the ensemble cast been up to since the series finale?

Dobrev played the show's divisive main character, Elena Gilbert, who falls into a love triangle with two vampire brothers.

Since the hit series, she has appeared in various films, including 2023's action thriller The Bricklayer and a comedy titled: Reunion, which was released this spring.

The 35-year-old also played a lead role in the 2019 sitcom Fam, which was cancelled after one season.

As for her personal life, Dobrev's Olympian boyfriend Shaun White recently proposed but the pair has yet to tie the knot.

Ian Somerhalder was no stranger to hit shows when he joined The Vampire Diaries, the star had already featured in J.J Abrams' Lost. His bloodthirsty character, Damon Salvatore, garnered attention from viewers for his bad-boy persona.

Following the series, Somerhalder launched whiskey brand Brother's Bond Bourbon, with his on-screen brother Paul Wesley.

However, the star has largely stayed away from television. In 2019, he starred in the Netflix sci-fi V-Wars, which was cancelled after one season.

The 36-year-old is still married to actress Nikki Reed, with whom he tied the knot in 2015.

Eagle-eyed fans will already know the latest on Paul Wesley because he has an active social media relationship with The Vampire Diaries enthusiasts. The actor played the timid one of the two brothers but spun out of control in later seasons.

Wesley has had a varied career since 2017, starring in the anthology thriller Tell Me A Story, which ran from 2018 to 2020. He also played Lieutenant James T. Kirk and Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a prequel to the beloved Star Trek franchise.

Most recently, the 42-year-old was featured in the dystopian thriller History of Evil.

Wesley married Ines de Ramon two years after the series ended but the couple divorced in February 2024.

Kat Graham's character was one of the few non-vampires in the drama. Instead, Bonnie Bennett was a powerful witch who often ran to the rescue of the group.

Shortly after The Vampire Diaries, Graham starred in the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me and the dystopian horror film How it Ends.

The now 35-year-old has continued her music career and released a new EP, The Broken Hearts Club, last month. She currently attracts over 40,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Graham tied the knot with TV personality Bryant Wood in 2023.

Candice King, who played Caroline, reprised the role in CW's spin-off series The Originals. She recently featured in the book-to-screen adaptation After We Collided and the made-for-TV movie Christmas in Tune.

The 37-year-old was married to The Fray guitarist Joe King while on the show but the pair divorced in 2022. King is currently in a relationship with fellow The Originals alum Steven Krueger.
