Today marks the official release of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, the highly awaited historical drama starring R Madhavan and Akshay Kumar. The film, which was directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is a major comeback for the Kesari franchise and examines the court fight that followed the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Pre-Sales Figures
The movie's advance sales started on Wednesday, and preliminary results indicate a positive start. On its first day, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ sold about 57,000 tickets for 4,400+ shows throughout the country, with pre-bookings sales of Rs 1.84 crore (excluding blocked seats), according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The overall pre-release profits increased to Rs 3 crore after accounting for seats that were booked for spot reservations.
The top-performing state was Maharashtra, which was followed by Gujarat, Delhi, and Karnataka. The movie is among the top five Bollywood movies of 2025 in terms of advance bookings, thanks to its robust pre-sales. Given that ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is a courtroom drama rather than an action or thriller, which often draws larger initial foot traffic, trade observers say this is a good accomplishment.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Box Office Predictions
According to box office projections, the movie's opening day earnings might range from Rs 5 crore to Rs 9 crore. The Good Friday holiday falls on the same day as the movie's release, which may help its box office performance as the weekend goes on.
The morning occupancy rate for the film is 12.67%, which is encouraging for the day of its launch. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar's last film, 'Sky Force', had a lower morning occupancy of 10.26% on its first day. That means 'Kesari Chapter 2' is already enjoying a 23% higher response.
In ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, Ananya Panday plays Dilreet Gill, R Madhavan plays British lawyer Neville McKinley, and Akshay Kumar plays attorney C. Sankaran Nair. Produced by Cape Of Good Films, Leo Media Collective, and Dharma Productions, the movie is based on the novel The Case That Shook the Empire.
