Delhi AAP New President: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has undertaken a major organisational reshuffle across six states, with senior leader Manish Sisodia appointed as the Punjab in-charge. The decision was finalised during a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting chaired by AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday.

As per the new appointments, Dr Sandeep Pathak, AAP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) and Rajya Sabha MP, has been given the additional charge of Chhattisgarh, Gopal Rai will oversee Gujarat, and Pankaj Gupta has been made in-charge of Goa. New co-in-charges have also been appointed in these states. Saurabh Bharadwaj has been named as the Delhi state president, while Mehraj Malik has been appointed as the Jammu and Kashmir president.

Dr Sandeep Pathak stated, “The PAC meeting discussed multiple key issues, including the party’s expansion and organisational structure. The appointment of in-charges for four states and new presidents for two states was approved.”

Regarding Punjab, Pathak confirmed that Manish Sisodia will be the in-charge, with Satyendar Jain as the co-in-charge. In Gujarat, Gopal Rai will serve as the in-charge, with Durgesh Pathak as co-in-charge. In Goa, Pankaj Gupta will be in-charge, with Ankush Narang, Abhash Chandela, and Deepak Singla as co-in-charges.

The AAP's Jammu and Kashmir President Mehraz Malik is the first and only MLA of the party in the union territory.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) brought about the changes at a time when it is still licking its wounds from the poll loss in the Delhi elections.

Manish Sisodia on Punjab’s Progress

Expressing gratitude for his new role, Manish Sisodia stated, “I am honoured that Arvind Kejriwal has entrusted me with the responsibility of working as the in-charge of Punjab. Over the past three years, the people of Punjab have witnessed transformational governance under Bhagwant Mann, something previous governments could not even imagine.”

He highlighted major initiatives undertaken by the AAP government in Punjab, including job creation, improvements in education and healthcare, and reforms in the agricultural sector. “The work done in the past three years is unparalleled in Punjab’s history,” he remarked.

Sisodia further emphasised his vision for Punjab, saying, “My goal is for every individual in Punjab to feel the impact of ‘Badalta Punjab’ (Changing Punjab). The state will now talk about employment, education, progress, and development, with no place for drug abuse, crime, or unemployment.”

Taking to social media platform X, Sisodia reiterated, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal and the party leadership for appointing me as Punjab’s in-charge. The results of the work done in the past three years are now visible, and we are witnessing a confident, changing Punjab. It is time to accelerate this transformation.”

Punjab — The Big Challenge

After losing Delhi, AAP is trying hard to retain Punjab. Sisodia's elevation as Punjab in-charge indicates that the party is forming a strategy for the 2027 elections. Sisodia has been active in Punjab since the Delhi Assembly election results. With Punjab’s Ludhiana West bypoll approaching, Sisodia exuded confidence in AAP’s victory and reaffirmed that the government’s focus will remain on public welfare.
