Virat Kohli to lead RCB? Amid reports suggesting that the star batter could be back as the captain, Bengaluru have named him in their retention list ahead of the mega auction.

IPL Retention 2025: Virat Kohli has been named in the list of players retained by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the mega auction. The franchise announced the list of players retained on the IPL Retention Deadline day (October 31). Earlier, a media report had claimed that Kohli could well be back as the skipper of the team with the team looking to part ways with Faf du Plessis.

Virat finds his name in the list of players retained by the franchise along with Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. While the former India captain has been retained for Rs 21 crore, Patidar will continue his services for RCB for Rs 11 crore. Left-arm pacer Yash got 11 crore from the franchise.

RCB's retention picks leave them with a purse of Rs 83 heading into the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. In addition, they have three Right To Match (RTM) options. Even though RCB has featured in every season of the competition since its inaugural run in 2008, they have never managed to win the title. 

Even though the date of IPL 2025 Mega Auction is not yet known, it is likely to be held in November.
