The Mumbai Traffic Police has received a message on WhatsApp, in which the sender spoke of plans of an attack Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' Office. The Worli police have registered a case and started an investigation.

The traffic police received this threatening message on WhatsApp from a Pakistani number on Wednesday afternoon. The person sending the message has identified himself as Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev.

An investigation is underway to find out whether the sender is an Indian or a foreigner.

The fresh threat comes on the heels of another email that put the Mumbai Police on high alert. A chilling bomb threat last week targeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The email, which threatened to blow up Shinde’s vehicle, was sent to multiple official accounts, including those of the Goregaon and JJ Marg police station, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), and Mantralaya.

Authorities wasted no time in responding to the threat. The Goregaon Police detained a suspect for questioning, while a parallel probe by the Mumbai Crime Branch led to the identification and arrest of the accused. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to sending the email, but investigators are now working to determine the precise origin of the message and any potential motives behind the act.

Following standard procedure, an FIR was promptly registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 351(3) and 351(4) for criminal intimidation and Section 353(2) for statements leading to public mischief. Additional provisions under the Information Technology Act were also invoked to address the digital nature of the threat.

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde received a similar bomb threat last month, leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect. At the time, Shinde, along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Jitendra Pawar, was in Delhi attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
