Three newborn babies died after a fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Amravati District Women's Hospital in Maharashtra early Monday, according to the information provided.
The fire broke out at around 3:30 am on the hospital's third floor. Preliminary information suggests that the blaze started following an explosion in a ventilator in the NICU.

39 Newborns Were In NICU
At the time of the incident, 39 newborns were admitted across three rooms of the neonatal unit.
As soon as the fire broke out, doctors, nurses and other hospital staff on duty began evacuating the newborns from the affected area and removing them from the ventilators.

Six Babies Hospitalised
Three newborns reportedly died of burn injuries in the incident.
Six other children who were affected in the incident were shifted to a nearby government super-speciality hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Further details are awaited.
