At least 80 houses were set ablaze by miscreants on Wednesday in Bihar's Nawada. The miscreants first opened fire in the Mahadalit Tola area and then torched the houses. Following the incident, heavy police deployment was done in the area amid rising tensions. Many cattle died in the incident.

The incident occurred in Deodoor Krishna Nagar, which comes under the Mufassil police station area. The people of the Mahadalit community had been living on the government land for the last decade but today some miscreants reached the area and opened fire. Thereafter, they torched the houses while the people were present inside. As the people of the locality saw flames and smoke emanate from their surroundings, they immediately rushed out, but could not save their houses.  

According to sources, over 100 police personnel are present at the spot. The flames have been brought under control. However, it remains unknown as to who is behind the incident. Efforts by the police are underway to ascertain the reason behind the attack.

A team of police officials, including Sadar SDO Akhilesh Yadav, SDPO Anoj Kumar, SDPO Sunil Kumar, reached at the spot to bring the situation under control. The villagers alleged that Nandu Paswan of Pran Bigha arrived at their village with hundreds of people on Wednesday evening at around 7:30 pm. The mob began firing and assaulting the villagers, and later set 80-85 houses on fire.

The cattle of the villagers and their household goods and vehicles have been completely destroyed in the fire. They are now facing challenges of finding basic necessities such as food and shelter. The villagers expressed shock and said that the attack was unexpected and sudden. As gunfire broke out, panic spread and people started running to save their lives.
