Liam Payne, a former singer of the much-loved boyband One Direction, was found dead outside a hotel in Aregentina's Buenos Aires on Wednesday evening. Police have said that the 31-year-old singer fell from the third-floor balcony of the hotel. Payne had attended the Argentina concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan earlier this month.

Police reached the hotel after they were notified about an "aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol", Reuters reported. The hotel manager said he heard a loud noise at the back of the hotel, and when police arrived they found that a man had fallen over the balcony in his room, the agency quoted a police statement.

Liam Acted Erractic In Hotel Lobby

Liam had been acting erratic in the hotel lobby earlier and smashed his laptop, TMZ reported, adding that he had to be carried back to his room. In June 2021, Liam said that he struggled with alcohol and prescription drug addictions at one point when One Direction was on tour and things got so bad that he had "severe" suicidal thoughts.

In a post on Snapchat just hours before the incident, Liam said, "It's a lovely day here in Argentina".

American singer Charlie Puth expressed shock over the incident. "Liam was always so kind to me...He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he is gone," he wrote on Instagram.

Paris Hilton mourned his death and said, "Sending love and condolences to his family [and] loved ones".
