Oleksandr Usyk cemented himself as the greatest heavyweight boxer in the sport right now with a decisive decision win over Tyson Fury earlier today (Sat., Dec. 21, 2024) LIVE on DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,

Fury came into the main event clash a small betting underdog and 20 pounds heavier than what he was in their first fight. Usyk took over where he left off back in May and came out of the gate with constant movement, jabs to the body, and left hands over the top when the distance was closed. Fury relied on a stiff jab and did land a solid right to get the attention of the champion, but Usyk’s diversity and volume were hard to deal with in the early frames.

Usyk continued his ring control in the fourth round with a crushing left hand that briefly staggered “Gypsy King.” Fury tried to get it back with a stiff right hand, but Usyk’s defense was on point. He was avoiding most of Fury’s big shots. That was until Fury snuck an uppercut through the guard of Usyk in the fifth round that snapped the champ’s head back and got him moving backwards. Usyk appeared to be fading just a bit, but the much-heavier Fury had exhausted a lot of energy as well.

The champion started to ramp his output up in the middle to later rounds as his left hand once again landed at a good clip. Fury looked more tired than ever as he was forced to carry his own weight. The two heavyweights would go toe-to-toe down the stretch as they each tried to win rounds for a close decision call. In the end, it was Usyk who walked away with unanimous decision nod and his heavyweight belts in tow.
