Jake Paul and Mike Tyson collided in a highly-anticipated main event boxing match last night (Fri., Nov. 15, 2024) LIVE on Netflix from inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., but fight fans were left disappointed after “Problem Child” failed to stop a completely washed and exhausted “Iron Mike.”
You can watch the highlights HERE.
Most fight fans believed Friday’s headliner would be a one-sided affair given the large age difference and Tyson’s lack of activity over the past 20 years, but they still had hope that Paul would meet his demise. Tyson’s pre-fight training videos and weigh-ins slap helped create a feeling that he could channel his old self, but in the end “Iron Mike” was a 58-year-old fighter well past his prime.
Paul, who has made a living beating guys he should beat, had a field day inside of the ring. Outside of a few punches to start the first round Tyson didn’t land much of anything and could barely move. It allowed Paul to land almost anything he wanted, but he didn’t want to deliver a fight-ending blow out of respect for Tyson.
In the end, Paul walked away with the unanimous decision win. It was a victory he certainly needed, but the overall action from the fight left combat fans wanting more. This includes Barstool Sports president, Dave Portnoy, who went as far as calling the ‘Paul vs. Tyson’ main event a “great con” due to the lack of competitiveness and uneventful ending.
Check it out below and let us know if you agree with Portnoy’s frustration:
“Also the fact people care about this fight is a testament to Jake Paul being arguable the greatest marketer of our lifetime. This fight has no business having anybody give a fuck about it yet here we are.”
“Credit to Jake Paul + Mike Tyson for pulling off one of the great cons of century. I shoulda put 10 million on Jake. Not cause he’s good but cause he fought a senior citizen. I would say everybody involved should be ashamed but I’d take the money it too if I could.”
