Derrick Lewis vs. Tallison Teixeira squared off in a Heavyweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. July 12, 2025) live on ESPN inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Lewis opened the fight with a big swing and big kick right away. Teixeira landed first, however, stunning his opponent with a counter shot. “The Black Beast” wasn’t deterred and swung forward wildly, putting Teixeira on the floor with a left hook! The massive Brazilian tried to regain his footing, but Lewis hammered away with countless power punches. The referee moved in to save Teixeira sooner than later, awarding Lewis a record-setting 16th knockout win!
The whole chaotic bout lasted less than a minute.
What is there to say? Lewis is one of the hardest hitters in the history of MMA, and he bombed Teixeira with a full power shot in the opening 20 seconds. The stoppage was probably on the early side, but I understand why the referee would be quick to pull the trigger when dealing with such a powerful puncher.
One way or another, it’s a quick night of work for “The Black Beast,” who has now won three of his last four via knockout.
Result: Lewis defeats Teixeira via knockout
