Samsung reportedly cancels Galaxy S26 Edge after weak S25 Edge sales

Samsung’s experiment with an ultra-slim flagship appears to be short-lived. After launching the Galaxy S25 Edge—a thin-and-light Android phone that consciously traded some core specs for a sleeker profile—the company has reportedly canceled its successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge.

A report from South Korea’s Newspim (relayed via Jukanlosreve on X) says Samsung will discontinue the “Edge” line roughly five months after launch due to lower-than-expected sales. Instead of a second-gen Edge, Samsung’s 2026 flagship family is expected to return to the familiar trio: Galaxy S26 (widely tipped to be branded Galaxy S26 Pro), Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

What Galaxy S26 Edge cancellation signals?

  • Thin-and-light isn’t enough on its own. The S25 Edge arrived ahead of rivals chasing “Air” aesthetics, but the market response suggests buyers still prioritize all-round specs over millimeter gains.
  • Simplified lineup. Dropping the Edge reduces portfolio complexity and refocuses flagship messaging on the mainstream S26/Plus/Ultra tiers.
  • Naming tweak likely. Multiple reports indicate the base model may adopt the “Pro” moniker, but the overall three-model structure remains.

Samsung has not issued an official statement at the time of writing; plans could still shift as the S26 family approaches launch.
