Bihar Polls: NDA heads for landslide win; BJP largest party
by Northlines · NorthlinesPatna, Nov 14: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appears headed for a landslide victory in Bihar, leading in more than 180 of the state’s 243 assembly seats, with early trends showing the BJP on track to post its biggest tally yet.
According to the Election Commission’s website by noon, the BJP was leading in over 80 of the 101 seats it contested, positioning itself as the single-largest party and reinforcing its dominance nationally. The JD(U), backed strongly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was ahead in more than 70 seats, marking a significant improvement from its 43-seat tally in 2020.
The LJP(RV), led by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, showed a stellar performance with leads in over 20 of 29 seats contested. In contrast, the RJD lagged with leads in fewer than 40 seats, while the Congress managed under 10 seats despite contesting 61.
Among prominent leaders, BJP Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary (Tarapur) and Vijay Kumar Sinha (Lakhisarai) were leading comfortably. INDIA bloc CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav trailed BJP rival Satish Kumar by about 100 votes, while his brother Tej Pratap Yadav placed fourth in Mahua.
The results mark a continuation of BJP’s strong electoral streak, following victories in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Haryana, and may spark internal discussions within the NDA over leadership roles in Bihar. (Agencies)
