Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has charge-sheeted a police official accused of duping job seekers by taking money in the name of arranging government posts, officials said on Saturday.

A chargesheet under Section 420 of the IPC has been filed before the Special Mobile Magistrate, Pulwama, against Riyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar and resident of Naroo Ratnipora, Pulwama, in FIR No. 15/2025. Dar, a Head Constable of IRP 21st Battalion (Belt No. 53/IRP 21st Bn, ARP No. 993957), allegedly misused his position to deceive multiple aspirants with false promises of government employment.

According to the EOW statement, the case began after credible information indicated Dar had been collecting money from innocent individuals under the pretext of securing jobs. A preliminary inquiry by EOW Srinagar established prima facie evidence of fraudulent activity, leading to formal registration of the case.

Investigators found that the accused dishonestly induced several persons to pay money, exploiting their trust and hopes of government placement. The probe concluded that his actions constituted offences punishable under Section 420 IPC, prompting submission of the chargesheet for judicial scrutiny.

The Crime Branch Kashmir reaffirmed its resolve to uphold integrity and ensure strict action against corruption, cheating, and related malpractices.
