Two Pilots Killed as Training Aircraft Crashes Near Ganga in Kanpur

KANPUR, Aug 27: An instructor pilot and a trainee pilot were killed after a twin-engine, four-seater training aircraft crashed into a field near the Ganga Barrage in Kanpur on Thursday, police said.

The aircraft crashed near Natthupurwa village, close to the banks of the Ganga, prompting police, rescue teams and other emergency personnel to rush to the spot. Both occupants were pulled from the wreckage but could not be saved.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary information indicated that the aircraft was on a training sortie when the accident occurred, while authorities have begun investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.

The aircraft, identified in reports as registration VT-NBV, was badly damaged in the impact, with wreckage scattered across the field. The aircraft is operated by Garg Aviation, which runs a flying school from Kanpur’s civil aerodrome, according to reports.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of the two pilots. He prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash. (Agencies)
