Gangster Atiq Ahmed’s Son Killed in Road Accident While En Route to Meet Jailed Brother

Jhansi, Aug 6: Abaan Ahmed, son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, was killed in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on Thursday while he was reportedly travelling to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed, lodged in the district jail.

According to police, the accident occurred in the Pooch police station area when the car in which Abaan was travelling allegedly went out of control and crashed into a road divider. The collision was so severe that the front portion of the vehicle was completely mangled.

Local residents and police personnel rescued the occupants trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Abaan and two other occupants were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The two injured persons are undergoing treatment, with their condition not immediately known.

Preliminary information indicated that Abaan Ahmed was travelling to Jhansi district jail to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmed, who is lodged there in connection with criminal cases.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Atiq Ahmed, a former gangster and politician, and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead at point-blank range by three assailants in Prayagraj in April 2023 while they were being escorted by police for a medical examination. (Agencies)
