Srinagar Police Launch Crackdown on Unregistered Hotels, Homestays; Fines, Legal Action Initiated
by Northlines · NorthlinesSrinagar, Jan 10: Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Tourist Police Station Srinagar, have launched a city-wide verification and inspection drive against hotels, guest houses and homestays operating without mandatory registration, officials said on Friday.
The drive was aimed at enforcing regulatory compliance and ensuring safe and responsible tourism in the district. During inspections, several establishments were found functioning without valid registration from the competent authorities.
According to a police statement, hotels identified during the drive included Essar, ABC Residency, Gani and Aksa, while unregistered homestays included Al Habib, Golden Moon and Divine Holiday.
Fines were imposed on the violators for operating without the required registration. In addition, preventive action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will be initiated against the owners of all such unregistered establishments, the statement said.
Srinagar Police have advised owners and operators of homestays, hotels and guest houses to strictly adhere to prescribed legal requirements and ensure timely registration with the concerned authorities to avoid legal action.
The police further stated that such verification and enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure compliance with regulations and to promote lawful, safe and responsible tourism across Srinagar district. (KNC)
