J&K: Encounter breaks out between terrorists & security forces in Harwan area

Srinagar, July 28: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park on Monday, following a tip-off about militant presence, officials said. The Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the development, posting on X: “OP MAHADEV – Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”

Security forces had earlier launched a cordon and search operation in the Mulnar area of Harwan. During initial combing, two gunshots were heard, prompting reinforcements to be deployed and the operation intensified.

Preliminary reports suggest that 2–3 terrorists are likely trapped in the area. The operation is ongoing, and further details are awaited. (Agencies)
