by Northlines · NorthlinesNEW DELHI, Jul 20: Security personnel stopped thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters marching towards Parliament on Monday, with a scuffle breaking out after demonstrators allegedly attempted to breach barricades near Parliament Street.
Sources said protesters tried to push through multiple barricades in the high-security zone at around 11.25 am, prompting security personnel to intervene. The situation briefly turned tense, with some protesters and police personnel sustaining minor injuries.
Around 10 to 15 protesters were detained during the incident, according to sources.
A heavy deployment of uniformed and plainclothes police personnel had been stationed across the area to maintain law and order and prevent protesters from reaching Parliament.
However, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma denied reports of police using force, asserting that not a single Delhi Police personnel had resorted to force against the protesters. (Agencies)
