Union Cabinet Passes Resolution Lauding PM Modi For Becoming The Longest-Serving Elected PM
by Northlines · NorthlinesNew Delhi, June 10: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms, as he completed 4,399 days in office, surpassing the record held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Cabinet members also gave a standing ovation to the Prime Minister in recognition of the milestone. PM Modi overtook Nehru’s record of 4,398 consecutive days in office after the first general election.
Marking the occasion, PM Modi described public service as the true test of good governance. Sharing a Sanskrit verse on social media platform X, he said humility, dedication and a sense of duty are essential for earning the trust of the people.
Congratulatory messages poured in from NDA leaders, political figures and dignitaries from India and abroad. Former President Ram Nath Kovind described PM Modi’s 12-year tenure as a watershed period in post-Independence India, crediting his government with helping the country overcome the legacy of colonial-era inferiority.
Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, offered prayers for the Prime Minister on the occasion.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the achievement reflected the trust and support of millions of Indians and termed PM Modi’s 4,399-day tenure a “golden chapter” in building a strong, prosperous, self-reliant and developed India.
International leaders also joined in extending greetings. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised PM Modi’s contribution to India’s growing global stature, while United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor congratulated him on the milestone, describing it as a testament to decades of dedicated public service and leadership.
