NEW DELHI, May 5: India on Tuesday termed the attack on the United Arab Emirates’ port city of Fujairah, in which three Indian nationals were injured, as “unacceptable” and called for an immediate halt to hostilities targeting civilians.

The reaction came a day after a drone strike triggered a fire in a major oil industry zone in Fujairah, injuring the three Indians. The UAE has blamed Iran for the attack.

“The attack on Fujairah that resulted in injury to three Indian nationals is unacceptable,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, urging an immediate cessation of violence and attacks on civilian infrastructure.

India also stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in West Asia. Jaiswal reiterated the importance of ensuring free and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, adding that India stands ready to support all efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution.
