New Delhi, May 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged people to take precautions amid rising temperatures across several parts of the country and advised citizens to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary exposure to heat.

In a social media post, Modi asked people to carry water while stepping out and stressed the need for collective care and sensitivity during extreme weather conditions.

Highlighting the difficulties caused by intense heat in daily life, the Prime Minister said offering a glass of water to a thirsty person could become a meaningful act of support during such times.

He also urged people to stay connected with family members and loved ones, inquire about their well-being and remind them to drink enough water, avoid stepping out in the harsh afternoon sun and take adequate rest.

Modi further appealed to citizens to place small vessels filled with water outside homes, balconies, rooftops, shops and offices for birds and animals affected by the heat.

The Prime Minister appreciated those who keep water pitchers outside their homes and shops for passersby and urged everyone to care for one another with compassion and sensitivity during the ongoing heatwave conditions. (Agencies)
