J&K: Cop Shoots Wife Dead During Quarrel, Attempts Suicide; Hospitalized
by Northlines · NorthlinesSRINAGAR, May 16: A probationary sub-inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police allegedly shot his wife dead before attempting suicide following a domestic quarrel in Kupwara district, officials said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Deep Singh, was posted at a Special Operations Group (SOG) camp in the Kandi area of north Kashmir.
Officials said the incident occurred late Friday after a quarrel broke out between Singh and his wife, Bhawana.
During the altercation, Singh allegedly fired at his wife in a fit of rage, killing her on the spot.
He then shot himself and sustained critical injuries.
Singh has been admitted to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar, where he is undergoing treatment, officials added. (Agencies)
