India Slams Pakistan Over Kabul Hospital Strike
by Northlines · NorthlinesNew Delhi, Mar 17: India on Tuesday unequivocally condemned Pakistan’s alleged airstrikes on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, terming the attack a “cowardly and unconscionable act of violence” that reportedly killed hundreds of civilians.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said the March 16 strike “has claimed the lives of a large number of civilians in a facility which can by no means be justified as a military target,” accusing Pakistan of attempting to portray “a massacre as a military operation.”
According to the Afghan Taliban government, at least 400 people were killed and 250 injured in the attack. Pakistan, however, denied targeting any hospital, maintaining that its strikes were aimed at military installations and “terrorist support infrastructure.”
India further described the strike as a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional peace and stability, alleging it reflects Pakistan’s pattern of reckless cross-border actions.
Calling for global accountability, India urged the international community to ensure that such targeting of civilians ceases immediately. It also expressed condolences to the victims’ families, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and reaffirmed its support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The incident marks the latest escalation in tensions between the two countries amid ongoing hostilities during the holy month of Ramadan. (Agencies)
